Dental Implant Tooth Replacement

Dental implants, hailed as a miracle of modern dentistry, have become the new standard for missing teeth for those 18 years of age and older.  Implant dentistry involves the replacement of both the root and the tooth.  The implant is a small titanium post that is implanted in the jaw bone just like the original root used to be.  It replaces the natural tooth root and supports a crown.  After the crown is seated, the new “tooth” looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth…maybe even better.  Implants will change your life as you once again enjoy the comfort, convenience, and feel of natural teeth.  It doesn’t make sense today to cut down and compromise other teeth to put in a bridge as has been done in the past.  Implants are typically lifetime replacements as opposed to the ten-year life typical of a bridge.  Almost any adult in good general health is a candidate for dental implants, even people with treatable conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure.  Implants can even be placed to stabilize a denture.  People leaving the office after having an implant placed are surprised  and remark how comfortable the procedure actually was.
